1 Information We Collect

When you create an account and use NewHere, we collect the following:

2 Legal Basis for Processing

Under GDPR, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

Contract

Processing your name, email, and content to provide the NewHere service — creating your account, displaying your posts and replies, and operating the platform.

Consent

Sending push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time by disabling notifications in your device settings.

Legitimate Interest

Personalising your feed using your profile data (stage, visa, problems, skills) to show relevant content. Using device and usage data to maintain security and improve the service.

3 How We Use Your Information

4 Automated Processing & Profiling

NewHere uses your profile data — specifically your immigration stage, visa type, region, and stated problems — to automatically score and rank posts in your personalised "For You" feed. This is automated profiling.

No automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made about you. The profiling only affects the order in which content is shown to you. You can view unfiltered content at any time via the General tab.

7 Data Storage & Retention

8 Cookies & Local Storage

NewHere uses browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to save your login session and app preferences such as dark/light mode. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to third parties.
